The Role:
We're hiring a Java Software Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team in Belfast. You'll be working on a core infrastructure-as-a-service platform, with real-time, low-latency demands and a focus on smart architecture. This role is ideal for a developer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants ownership of end-to-end delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and support robust, performant microservices
* Collaborate with global teams to deliver new features and integrations
* Own service components from concept to deployment
* Improve existing systems with a focus on scalability and maintainability
* Contribute to architecture decisions and technical roadmaps
Essential Criteria:
* 3+ years' commercial Java experience (Java 8+)
* Experience with Spring or Micronaut (or similar frameworks)
* Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases (Postgres, MongoDB, etc.)
* Comfortable with Docker, build tools (Gradle/Maven), and unit testing (JUnit, Spock)
* Strong problem-solving ability and clean coding practices
Desirable Skills:
* Reactive programming (RxJava, Project Reactor)
* Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ
* Familiarity with scripting (Groovy, Ruby, Python)
* Experience with REST, WebSockets, and networking protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP)
* CI/CD pipeline tools like Jenkins, TeamCity
* Exposure to Grails, JavaScript, Bootstrap or jQuery
